It's way too easy to assume that a thin body will solve all or even just some of the problems in your life. I used to think it would.
Thinking that weight-loss will right the wrongs in your world is also giving up your personal power and giving it away to your weight.
How many of you have plans for what you will do once you are thinner?
I imagine that a lot of you believe that you will gain access to an entirely new life once you finally lose the weight.
You might tell youself that...
When I'm thin, Ill be confident
When I'm thin, I'll finally find a partner that loves me
When I'm thin, I'll enjoy sex more
When I'm thin, my parents will finally approve of me
When I'm thin, I'll be more outgoing and fun
When I'm thin, I'll be beautiful
When I'm thin, I'll be successful in my career
When I'm thin, I'll heal my diabetes
When I'm thin, I'll be healthy
No wonder you are so obsessed with weight-loss. You believe that you can't have the life you want untill you achieve it.
Gosh that must be painful and frustrating.
Accepting your body and giving up the goal of weight loss is not just about the physical aspects, but also accepting who you are as a person right now and not waiting until you become thin to be her/him.
And, regardless of your body size, you may never get attention from someone who does not want to give it to you, your parents may never approve, you might not enjoy sex more, and you may never get the job.
By investing in your fantasy about thinness you miss the opportunity to embrace who you are, today, right now.
And you instead allow your body size to be an excuse for you to not really live the life you want.
The hope that your life will magically improve once you are in a thinner body stops you from taking steps to improve your life right now.
Stop putting your life on hold. Using your body size as a reason for why you aren't living the life you want right now is so dis-empowering.
You are so much more than just your body size.
Rather move towards self-love and self-acceptance. It will empower you to feel joy, freedom and self-expression and allow you to be more YOU in this moment.
