The idea of "Body Love" seems so hard to experience sometimes, especially if you are deep in the throes of a disordered relationship with food.
Almost by definition having a problem with food means having a problem with the way your body looks.
But can we just think about what the word love actually means and does “body-love” mean having a specific opinion of your body because it looks a certain way?
Think about a person you love in your life (Mom, Dad, sister, partner whatever), do you love them because they are thin, attractive, stylish?
Or is your definition of love much deeper than that?
Do you love your mom because she is YOUR MOM..., your family, your blood, your life-giver?
Loving your body means loving it for no other reason than IT IS YOUR BODY. it's the vessel in which you show up in life.
Body love is unconditional love, not based on having perfect health or perfect tits.
It’s the type of love you have because your body is part of you, it’s selfless, it’s not conditional on being a certain size or fitting some societally constructed ideal of what beauty is.
Real body love is deeper than just looking a certain way.
In fact, body love doesn't really have much to do with appearance at all.
